Goal: To Celebrate World Languages
and promote The Year of Languages in 2005.
Objectives:
1. To collect posters
to be used to promote The Year of Languages.
2. To involve the
students in the celebration.
3. To showcase the
artistic and imaginative talents of our students in languages.
Poster Requirements and Contest Rules:
Eligibility:
Contest is open to all students currently enrolled
in a World Language Course.
Posters submitted must be selected by their
World Language Department.
Posters must be:
* size: exactly 18” X 24” (no larger, no smaller)
* must be done on white poster board (not manila oak tag or construction
paper)
* needs to include the words THE YEAR OF LANGUAGES 2005 with letters
no smaller
than 2 inches high
* design, graphic and wording, must be in good taste and follow all
chapter 19 regulations
* all work must be original-done by the submitting student (no
copyrighted material, no
published clip
art, no computer graphics, no manga/anime/comic replicas)
* color or black and white entries acceptable
* no 3D artwork, nothing can be hanging off the board
Submission Format:
* all posters must have the entry form securely attached to the
back
* entries forms must be complete
* students can enter only one poster each
* schools may submit up to 5 entries selected through the school

* all posters must be delivered or sent to and received by Cindy
Wong at Aiea High
School, Danile Kop at Kalani High School, or
for neighbor island schools, Anita Bruce
or Lynette Fujimori at

4:00pm on Tuesday, November 30, 2004
* late entries will not be considered
Judging:
* a panel of judges from HALT will select the winning entries in
the following categories
Elementary
Middle School/Intermediate
School
High School
* selection criteria is based on:
expressing the
theme of The Year of Languages 2005
originality/creativity
neatness/over all
quality
use of second languages-accuracy,
applicability
Recognition & Awards:
* Winning entries will have works displayed.
* Selected posters may be used to promote The Year of Languages
2005 in the form of:
calendar, postcards,
promotional flyers etc.
* Winners will receive a certificate and various prizes.
* Winners will be asked to participate in local parades
